yes thats right, they do! i saw it last week. read through the email i have sent below and youl get the idea
On Wednesday the 18th Feb i was watching CBBC on BBC1 with my young son when the Gastronuts came on, it was all about fish and eating/cooking them. The presenter also said they would be trying to catch some later so been an angler i thought i would sit and watch with my son as i am going to take him fishing this year. All seemed fine until the presenter took a group of children fishing. They never had a chance of catching anything with the equipment they had and will probably never want to go fishing again. I do hope they all also had the legally required fishing license. But what shocked me the most was when the presenter turned round and said "kids, you should get your parents to take you fishing to your local lake or river and catch your tea". Yes he was telling people to go out and remove fish from our lakes and rivers! Now this it not illegal but in this country at the moment there is a huge problem with Eastern European immigrants pillaging our fish stocks for the table. They are using illegal practices such as gill nets and hand lines to decimate fish stocks up and down the country. There is also size limits of the fish you can actually take and none of this was mentioned. This is such a big problem at the moment that the government have introduced the new Marine Bill and are actually in the process of changing the laws to stop this kind of activity and make it illegal to remove any fish from fresh water. I was very disappointed to find the BBC was encouraging people to go out and remove fish. I have written to the Angling Times news paper, Martin Salter MP who is the Governments angling spokesperson and The Rt Hon Hilary Benn MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
here is a link to the program on bbc iplayer, please watch then please please email the same poeple voicing your concerns
