Title: Aerial Maps

Do any of you guys use the aerial maps to help you find features on your choice of water? Clear patches, gravel bars, etc? If not, why not? Get you web browser over to http://maps.live.com/ and use the Birds Eye tab, hopefully you'll find it of some use.

I'm still learning the rules regards this website so hopefully I'm not upsetting anyone plugging another, if I am please remove this post and accept my apology.

Yes I use that site, however did we manage without ? You can print off using print screen so that you can mark on the depths when you plumb it too, the map is far more accurate than a sketch. There is also a site that allows yo to draw around the map and it calculates the acreage. Let me know if anyone needs that and i'LL find the link

It's this one, http://www.magic.gov.uk/

Mapping sites are the ultimate choice for finding swims on the rivers. You can comb miles of riverbank in no time at all and have an idea of areas to have a recce. With the price of fuel nowadays it can also save you a packet.

The big pond looks weedy, the other one coloured. Amazing detail from a rocket miles up in space. Do the ponds get fished mutch, are they on a day ticket?

I use Google Earth more than anything else for locating waters I've either been told about or read about. The quality of the image is by and large down to the weather conditions on the day the satellite scanned that area.
