BOF's Spod Rig

Take a big hook, (this is a size 1 Aberdeen sea hook)


Snip off the point


Take your spod and drill a small hole in the end, then tie on another swivel at this end.


Tie on your big hook to a length of reel line leaving a long tag end.


Tie the tag end to the new swivel.



Then hang the original swivel on to the hook, so that the spod hangs in its original position.


Now the spod will come off the hook when it lands, turn itself over, depositing the contents, but it will be the closed pointed end that comes back towards you when you retrieve.
This gives you a vast reduction in bow wave, as the spod planes up in the water, not burying itself as you reel in.
