Title: Sea Rods etc
Description: Looking to start sea fishing

I've been thinking about starting sea fishing for ages but never gotten around to it yet. How much is a reasonably decent setup likely to cost me?

I'm reliably informed that I can get a setup for about 25 quid or similar so it's looking good so far. Can't wait to climb that dodgy ladder at Filey rocks, ooh err B)

If you are fishing off the rocks wouldn't a carp rod and reel do?

Probably, but I'm skint at the moment mate so £25 sounds spot on to me B) think I'll have to invest the rest of my hard earned wages in climbing ropes and stuff from the look of those ladders :o
I'm well up for going out on a boat for the day as well, just as long as I can see land still that is. I found out I don't suffer from sea-sickness, or at least I didn't at the time, when I went out on a boat from Dorset Mackerel fishing as a teenager.

I, on the other hand, was sick as a dog when the sea was flat calm. Trouble is I can't be sick quietly, and the other guys had really had enough of my retching, I heard comments like 'will someone shut that C*** up'
Also, as this was on holiday, I can report that it's possible to have a tanned body and a green face.....

Sounds bad that mate :(
I'll hopefully be getting a/some rods this summer then I'll see if I can get my sea legs back. Any advice on what make of rod to buy? Or doesn't it matter too much?

Hi from A dud (pikemaster) - take care on that dodgey looking ladder - lots of sea rods on e-bay, cheap too, you don't want to be dropping expensive gear down that rock face !
If you speak to dudster he might put you on the list for a trip in my boat, but thinking about it - the ladder would prob be safer!
Oh - got a large beach multiplier reel i might part with if you still need 1
cheers pikemaster

hi again, just been browsin e-bay, lots cheap stuff on there - i recommend either a beach rod or uptide rod, uptider can be used on a boat 2
As mate of dudster i got a cheaper option - i'll lend u my gear next time u go
