I'm a river fisher for carp.
The river trent has been putting out some nice specimens at the moment even in the cold.I'v had a nice PB of 22lb 4 over the cold spell we had few week's ago.Frost on the rod's and heater's in the bivvy time. For the last 3 month's i'v been carping every friday stopping till dinner the next day.Not as busy at work so i can chill on friday's.Bagging friday we call it.Even do a fish dance. Most friday's i'v had some carp even had 8 nice carp to 16lb in one sesh of 24hrs in the cold.i'v been fishing for 25 years last 10 years for carp or just specimen fish.I try on pond's but never get a long fishing sesh only manage to get in 24hr at a time...a1 pit's is just down the road from me it's hard but some nice fish.I'm crap on the pit's.
Where you been fishing near you tell all
cheers

I had a few nice fish last year with this 31.12 mirror being the biggest. For me the biggest buzz came from catching on a boilie which i designed and built from scratch. Having spent 9 yrs making animal nutrition products i thought it only right to have a go.

Just a pity I'm not the most photogenic person in the world LOL :D

I suspect that you may be getting quite a bit of attention now you have admitted you are one of the elusive Trent Carpists, Dudster.
For what its worth I too will be giving the river some attention come the 16th June, just not full time.
Thanks to earlier commitments I will only be able to manage the odd session here and there, but I am already looking forward to the new season.
ROLL ON !

christ john thats a cracker :o im sick as a dog know :( never mind ..its getting warmer..i've started my "pebley res campaign" few bits out for the next few weeks..couple of things bother me slightly..ive been down every day for two weeks on the way home from work ...no-one fishes it ...at all..(could be a good thing?) and there's no talk of the pit/pond/res whatever you call it on the net? only thing i found was it was used as a fishing club in 1926!!by the gas board(you can imagine that..where would you find photo's?,,anyway..is this a bad sign??is it possible there's nowt/owt in it? there's some big pike definately and at the weekend there's only about 2 people on it? its all a bit negative but would you throw a season at it after all its only 60 quid?or go against the grain try a different method(mmm method..i wonder!!)

Despite the weather they did catch on Pebley at the weekend, but the best was only 14lb ish.
Its a bit on the cool side yet I suspect, although Pit 6 down at A1 did a few 20's, (3 24's and a 27) when the weather warmed up briefly midweek, by all accounts.

I was going to go to an old estate lake "up north" for a few days next week Browser. But "Her Indoors" and I visited the place today, and were rather dissapointed in the state of the place.
Not to put too fine a point on it, the swims mostly looked like an accident waiting to happen. Rotten boards, single old plank access, to 4ft x 4ft of chicken wire mesh nailed to the top of a woodworm collony. Mostly held together by memory and friendship, (you get the picture). Oh yes and the pegs were mostly out in the water hence the single rotting plank access.
The only decent looking pegs were clearly the home of the regulars, so I am fairly sure that I will need to find someplace else.
Hmm wonder if Norman would like another customer? :D
Well its that or staying local and the place hasnt really woken up yet.

Opened my account at the pits this year with a 18.08 Common. The Pike were spawning heavily all day and night!!! giving me hassle with liners and sending the delks wappy and occasionally pulling a bit of line. The run was very similar and took me a few seconds to ensure it was the real mccoy.

:fish: :D :fish:

Dont you just love the look of a nice Common? I know I do. They're my favourite Carp.
Nice start John.
