I think this crab was a fresh water beasty. My mate elk ( member ) caught a red crab on the Trent as well. The one on the video was green. I'm not 100% sure but I think the the red one was salt water crab because when I've been crabbing at the coast (years ago) I've never seen a green crab in the sea. I'll look into it. I'm after a cheap crabbing pot just to see what's in the Trent. :big:

Maybe he was green because he was sea sick and went on holiday to the Trent until he felt better B)

Dudster and mike-the-pike got the right idea - drop a pot in for a week - you never know what will turn up. But you would have to draw the short straw 2 empty it. Don't think there would be many volunteers to put their hands anywhere near a creature like that - them pincers were not right mate !

You could start a 'freaky catch' section :salmon:

It wasn't by any chance a "Chinese Mitten Crab" was it? Yeah, you have read that right... they are invading our waterways including the Thames & the Trent! Always report them to the EA..They can live in fresh/brackish/salt water, breed in the sea & migrate up rivers.. :(

They are AGGRESIVE like that and have big claws, the males have hairy ones, hence the name!
