Title: Fancy rigs for carp
Description: Whats your opinion

I speak to people on the bank and read in magazines all the different rigs people use. I`m an angler who tends to keep things simple and more often than not my hair rigs look pretty damned crude with a size 2 or 4 and a huge hair. I never peel back the coating on my braid I don`t pop baits up use hinged rigs etc etc. What i`m asking is do you tend to try different types of rig or do you stick to just a couple? Also do you reckon some of the fangled rigs that are around catch more fish than just a simple bottom bait rig or is it just a case of applied physics with no real benefit?
Before anybody slates me for making crude rigs i don`t mean poorly made or unsafe as they are 100% strong and safe. I use the word crude as in them being pretty blatant with very little finesse.

Think you have to be aware of what rigs are in use, but so long as your hook is sharp, and they like your bait thats a fish in the bag. Also depends how pressured the fish are.

floating crust has bagged me more carp than any other method:} size 8 to 60lb braid straight through:}}} the simpler the better is my policy.

I know a few of my fishing mate use very long hair rigs when fishing for barbel and sometimes carp.Me i just think if your hair rig is to long the fish could do a big Circle before you get a bite.Giving the fish loads of time to spit your bait out.Iv seen the rigs 2/3 foot long.Am i wrong are big hair rigs ok.?

Try a big hair on one rod mate, might work. You'll have to pva it or add a nugget to stop it tangling up the hooklink.

SShhh! don`t give my secrets away! :o Good advice mate i regularly use a hair of 2 inches especially if using rock hard air dried baits where they have to throw them back to the throat teeth to chomp em :fish:
